Personal Statement
I was born "a coal miner's daughter" in Pennsylvania. I can remember using out houses and tin wash tub at home and at our one room school house. We moved to the "Big City" of Grand Rapids when I was 14 and what a cultural shock! I graduated from Coopersville High School and attended Davenport College with a 2 year degree in business. At the age of 22 I married Jim Adema, a well-known snowmobile racer. We moved to Alaska, where we lived for 2 years until we returned to Grand Rapids to race snowmobiles professionally. We both were avid snowmobile racers and did very well at it until a tragic accident claimed his life. I have two wonderful children: James Michael Adema, who is married and has one daughter. My daughter, Amy Jo Adema Spoors is also married and has three children, 2 boys and 1 girl. My kids live within a golf-cart ride from me, so I am very fortunate to see my grandbabies every day. Being a Grandma is the hi-light of my life. After my first husband's fatality, I later married another racer, Bob Senneker, who is famous for racing late models. So I guess you could say I love adventure, speed and competition.
